BT Redcare, the UK's largest alarm signalling service, is to close its services from 1st August 2025.
On 1st February 2024, BT announced that it will be closing its BT Redcare operations. For over 30 years, BT Redcare has been one of the most recognised names in security and its closure will mean potentially significant changes for a number of premises across the UK.
This news means that those currently using the BT Redcare service will need to switch providers and due to a likely rush towards the closure date, it's recommended that this switch is completed as soon as possible.
We, like many others are monitoring the ongoing situation and will update our brokers and customers with acceptable systems, though the general rule is that any new system should be the same, or offer more security than their current Redcare system. This may be, as a minimum DP3 (dual path, with a system that sends a "ping" every 3 minutes) under BSEN50136-1 (which is the British Standard for the design of a remote signalling device).
If you or your clients have any questions around acceptable alarm systems moving forward, please do not hesitate to contact us on (01702) 411200. We will always be happy to help.
